Whale Watching

Today I went whale watching at the kind invitation of Andrew Stevenson aboard Explorer with Captain Michael Heslop at the helm and some 20 other excited guests of Andrew's. This is my second time this year out whale watching with Andrew, who is producing a documentary film on whales in Bermuda. Both ocassions have provided an opportunity to explore contemporary relationships with whales, strongly linked with both tourism and conservation practices, and the remembering and forgetting of the practice of whaling in Bermuda. Some splashes from a distance were seen today but unfortunately the whales proved too fast and elusive for us to get up close and personal.
